As a new lawyer one of the most daunting tasks is setting fees for your services. Many lawyers won’t tell you why they charge what they charge when asked. Every jurisdiction has a different idea of ‘reasonable and customary’. If too many lawyers discuss their fees the bar will sometimes fear antitrust issues. Seriously. Plus, you have your own inhibitions believing you don’t have the right to charge ‘as much’ or you give too much time away for free not valuing your services. So, listen to Jared and I as we discuss our thoughts on how to go about setting fees, fee circles, free consultations and more. Please join the conversation in the comments.
Jared receives countless questions from new solo lawyers and solos who have been in practice for decades but need advice on law practice management. We like to ask Jared what’s on lawyers’ minds as we have several times before.
