Good points, Susan.

I also think many in the latent legal market see lawyers as document preparation services, rather than trained professionals who use their years of schooling and experience to advise them on the best way to address their legal issues. So they are naturally lured by the lower costs associated with creating the documents themselves.

Offering unbundled legal services gives lawyers a forum in which to educate a client about the value of an attorney's guidance in preparing legal documents. Without legal guidance, documents created by DIY services like Legal Zoom may cost less, but may ultimately result in greater expense because are ineffective to accomplish the client's legal goals.
