[...] What it also means, though, is these same solos need to take advantage of these services in order to keep their overall costs down because they will also be servicing a larger population of people similarly situated who will be looking for alternatives to the traditional dispensing of legal services. And they will be looking for value. I discuss this here and here. [...]

Why did the comments close on the above thread....while comments are open on older threads? Obviously you can do as you please.

The posts on that thread were informative I thought, as you said yourself Susan.

I just want to add a caution to make sure your state allows unbundling. I know from experience that not all do. While some jurisdictions, such as the District of Columbia encourage unbundling and have even set up landlord-tenant clinics and such, the Commonwealth of Virginia and, consequently, the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, do not. It is not enough to rely on the ABA list of jurisdictions. You don't want to start your new year hauled up before a certain notorious federal judge.

Access to justice is one of the main reasons to support the unbundling of legal services. The ABA's Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services is currently undergoing a state-by-state research project to find out the extent to which attorneys are unbundling legal services, how they are doing this and what kind of support the state bars and other organizations are providing. What I have found in my own experience is that it does provide for greater access to legal services for lower and moderate income individuals and at the same time helps to lessen the burden on the court administration who are overburdened with pro se litigants that do require a lot of handholding.
