Right now is the best time to own a small business, in any field. The internet allows solos to get just as much exposure as the huge firms, and small practices are much more flexible and able to take advantage of the many new technologies that continue to emerge.

The main problem for lawyers right now is just realizing that the legal business is not what it was ten years ago and adjusting accordingly, whether it’s by opening a solo practice or finding new ways to advance in a large firm.
