		<description>Great idea. I have begun using Google Alerts to follow the tags from my website and blog and to follow what others are saying about me. I also recommend researching new clients on the social media prior to the initial meeting.</description>

		<description>The main reason you should monitor what others say about you on the internet is that you should be aware that this is what potential clients are reading when they consider using your services.  A huge percentage of Americans Google any service before using it; one or two immediately visible bad reviews can turn potential clients away.

At the same time, you need to be objective.  Even if you are receiving a few bad reviews, it&#039;s unlikely that that&#039;s representative of what all of your clients think of you.  Most people only mention how they felt about a service if they really hated it or really loved it.  If you just did your job with the level of quality they expect, then they&#039;re unlikely to mention it to anyone.  One or two upset clients should not cause you to change your entire practice.

I think there should be a limit to how much you monitor what people say about you.  You should be aware, certainly, but following it too closely will just cause you to become paranoid and insecure. Rather, I recommend asking loyal clients to give you positive reviews.  You shouldn&#039;t ask everyone, of course, as it would seem unprofessional, but those who you have close relationships with would be happy to support you.</description>
